WiGs during Festival of the Arts
Writers in the Grove astound me
with their generosity in listening
and encouraging other writers
Their four Wednesdays participating
in Forest Grove’s Festival of the Arts
this past summer teaching, sharing
showing their own work
setting up the Open Mic
laughing, gently suggesting
admitting when they do not know
helping to find solutions
being warm and accepting when
others are vulnerable in reaching out
Writers in the Grove is one amazing
group of gracious individuals
Thank you!
gambol v gamble
comment from Eileen gives author hope
whatever i give her
she gives back more
i give because i want her to have
what she needs to secure her future
she gives to tell she loves
her generosity is making sure you know you are cared about and for
while my concern is with far-off time
she gambols in the immediate present
out of a gray-cloudy day
help and support sometimes come
from on gray-cloudy day or week
of rejection disappointment
and from unanticipated sources
from people who have touched my life
but not yet allowed me to reach to them
they give without assurance of return
and leave me, mouth open and trembling at their generosity
