local weather
partly sunny—somewhere
but it’s the party cloudy
that has shown up around here
for quite a while
only the kindness and laughter
of family and friends
has kept our sunshine
peeking from between gray clouds
slow response
An original poem by MaryJane Nordgren
over many years
i’ve learned – most times –
not to react in anger
but to respect
my body
and soul’s reaction
and wait until my head
truly tempers my emotions
only then can i speak or
write with kindness
compassion takes a bit longer
