dawn sings
sunrise glows muted
through light fog
its brilliant awakening of day
hushed but still singing of the glory
of our gifted world
upright joy

imagine then her excitement awaiting the delivery of her niece’s
loaned upright and exuberance when it arrived to fit against the angled wall
of her new, happy home
